Math Email Setup and Forwarding
Below you fill find instructions on how to forward email between accounts,
and how to setup Thunderbird or any other IMAP/SMTP email client.
would like to fill out a computer account form to obtain a Math username and the associated email address. To
configure all the settings of an existing Math email account (such as spam filtering or vacation message)
please refer to https://mailcfg.math.utoronto.ca.
You can also access your Math email through the web interface available at
https://mail.math.utoronto.ca. Please make sure
to distinguish between your email address and your username e.g. if the email address is
janedoe@math.utoronto.ca the user name is janedoe.
The Math department runs its own mail server, providing users with an @math.utoronto.ca address
(or @math.toronto.edu, they are completely equivalent) which they can use for electronic correspondence.
Note that this @math.utoronto.ca email is in addition to — and independent of — the email provided
by the university which can be either of the form @utoronto.ca or @mail.utoronto.ca.
It is important for users to keep track
of both mailboxes since critical information may be sent to either one, and so it's suggested to have
both accounts readily accessible within your email client or simply forward email between them as described
below. Please note that although we fully support any issues you may encounter with
your @math.utoronto.ca email account by contacting
requests@math.utoronto.ca,
we cannot readily troubleshoot problems you may have with your
@utoronto.ca emails. We can still provide advice regardless, but it's best to contact the
Enterprise Service Centre (ESC) instead.
